About Us - Record Keeping
* The curriculum offered by our group comprises the full range of experiences, opportunities and activities that are carefully planned to promote children's learning through play.
* Personal, Social and Emotional Development
* Children are provided with experiences and support which will help them to develop a positive sense of themselves and others; respect for others; social skills; and a positive disposition to learn. We ensure that support for children's emotional well-being is provided to help them to know themselves and what they can do.
* Communication and Language, and Literacy
* Focus on children's learning and competence in communicating, speaking, and listening, being read to, and supported with the beginnings of reading and writing. We ensure that children have opportunities and encouragement to use their skills in a range of situations and for a range of purposes and are supported in developing the confidence to do so.
* Mathematics
* Children are supported in developing their understanding of Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy in a broad range of contexts in which they can explore, enjoy, learn, practice and talk about their developing understanding. Children are provided with opportunities to practice these skills and to gain confidence and competence in their use.
* Understanding the World
* Children are supported in developing the knowledge, skills and understanding that help them to make sense of the world. We ensure that their learning is supported through offering opportunities for them to use a range of tools safely; encounter creatures, people, plants and objects in their natural environments and in real-life situations; undertake practical 'experiments'; and work with a range of materials.
* Physical Development
* Focus on children's physical development. We provide with opportunities to encourage them to be active and interactive and to improve their skills, coordination, control, manipulation, and movement. Children are encouraged and supported in using all their senses to learn about the world around them and to make connections between new information and what they already know. Children are supported in developing understanding of the importance of physical ability and making healthy choices in relation to food. Develop physical control, mobility, and awareness of space and manipulative skills in indoor and outdoor environments. Establish positive attitudes towards a healthy and active way of life.
* Expressive Arts and Design
* Children's creativity is extended by the provision of support for their curiosity, exploration, and play. We ensure that opportunities are provided to explore and share their thoughts, ideas and feelings, for example, through a variety of art, music, movement, dance, imaginative and role play activities, mathematics and design and technology.

* Please note that a number of pre-school visitors, visits and outings are regularly organised to re-enforce children's learning and broaden their experiences. Parents must be aware that where a session needs to be cancelled to accommodate the visit/outing, refunds for those children who cannot attend will not be given. A consent section is included in pre-school's application form for you to sign.
* There may be the occasional change of Pre-School hours to accommodate important events or celebrations such as fund-raising events, Christmas, and end of term party.

Records and Record Keeping
At Trinity pre-school we are all different...we are all special!
With our key person system and one trained and exprienced adult to a group of children, we are able to implement an excellent record keeping system in which observations of the children in the group and at home are used as a basis for drawing up a curriculum for each child. We should like to stress that the staff observations will be made whilst your child is involved in regular Pre School activities, they will not be taken aside and observed individually. Record keeping is not a test. Each child will have their own file where these observations will be recorded. Please feel free to ask to see your child's folder or contribute to it at any time to see how he or she is progressing. This will then give you the opportunity to tell us if they are progressing similarly at home. Daily activity participation and notes are made on a regular basis to help build up records.
Trinity Pre-School recognises that parents/carers are the first and most important children's educators and that your contributions are extremely valuable to the children's learning and development. We have a pre-school/key person-parent contact book, which offers the benefits of:
- Parents able to write any messages or information about their child for their key person to receive, i.e. about the child's well-being on the day.
- Parents write to make an appointment with their key person to discuss their child's progress or concerns at more length than the "contact book".
- It is a good way to exchange information about home and pre-school without having to 'catch' a member of staff during the busy times of dropping and collection of children.
- It helps build a relationship between parents/carers and pre-school, which can only be beneficial to the care of the children.
- For children whose care is shared with a family member, childminder or who attend another setting we have a 'working together' contact book. This ensures effective communication and contributes towards the child's well-being, care and development.
- Your child's Key Person will be happy to do a Home Visit.
We have an allocated Health Visitor who may be contacted and consulted regarding the progress of children, and to discuss any problems that may have been encountered. We also liaise and consult a Specialist Teacher (Early Years Area SENCO) to assist and advise the staff to support all the children in the setting. Remember: we practice a Confidentiality Policy.
Regular staff meetings and daily briefings at the start of each day ensure that all children are supported in reaching their full potential. Our staff are always willing to discuss any concerns you may have.
We feel that photographs are an excellent way of showing parents and carers the great variety of activities that they may not always get to see. They are also helpful for setting /staff inspections, record keeping and training assignments.
